New computer..... Please help.. ...

I've recently got a new computer, and having some problems with my ipod, itunes. I got itunes installed on my new computer, and i have done a back up disc from my old computer, to install all my music. But I can't seem to work out how to sync my ipod with my new computer,(message keeps saying it's already on another computer) as it's still registerd with my old computer, and i'm unable to get on line with that one to de-authrozie it (not sure if that's what i need to do anyway?) Any ideas? Thanks.

iTunes 9 play lists ...

Since downloading iTunes 9, I have not been able to put a playlist of podcasts on my iPod.

The playlist appears OK in iTunes under 'Playlists' and it has all the podcasts I put in it. But, the podcasts do not appear on my iPod under 'Devices'. However, songs do.

Before #9, I have been doing this for years.

What's going on here. Any suggestions?

Podcast missing from iPod ...

I have an old ipod Photo 40g and have run into a problem. I downloaded a podcast, it's in my itunes and will not copy over to the ipod. I got the message that sync was complete, but there isn't even a category for Podcast on my ipod menu. Is there something I need to do in itunes to enable this or is my ipod simply just too old?

can i listen to my ipod through itunes ...

yeah the subject says it all: can i listen to my ipod through itunes at work? while syncing at home?

i'm syncing my "recently added", "highest rated" smart playlists and some personal playlists with my home computer (where my music library is) but when i get to work i'd like to put on music through the speakers of my imac.
however, all my ipod contents are greyed out in itunes so i can't do anything.
if i switch it to manual it will also stop syncing at home.
re-syncing my 160 gb ipod classic everytime i add something at home doesn't seem like a good idea either, takes a while...

what to do ?

and no, i have no other speakers at work.

Dodge Uconnect destroying IPODs ...

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I bought a brand new 2008 Dodge Charger RT and had a Uconnect installed with the IPOD glove box connect. For the first several months, everything worked fine and then there would be a weird static sound when listening to it and then finally, my IPOD died. I took the IPOD into the Apple store and they replaced it for free thinking something just went wrong with the IPOD after a year of ownership - but then I sync'd my new IPOD and connected it to my car and it killed the new IPOD! Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm taking my car to the dealer today and will update this post with the outcome

Need To Upgrade From Nano ...

My dad has the 16 GB 4th Gen Nano (without the video camera). Last night I added more music to it and it has less than 2 GB free. What would be a suitable upgrade as far as space for music? I had thought about getting the new 160 GB Classic and giving him my yr old 80 GB Classic.

I did something similar a year ago when I upgraded my mom from her 1 GB Shuffle (2nd Gen) to her 8 GB 4th Gen Nano.

Having problems with my black 30gb iPod ...

I own a black 30gb iPod Video. I was just talking about how loyal this iPod has been for the 3 years I've had it. I just bought new headphones for it on Saturday and on Wednesday on my bus ride home it was perfectly fine. But later that night, the sound would only play in my left ear. I figured it was the headphones. So I got out an old pair that still work great and they too would only play sound in my left ear. I even used my friend's headphones which work great and they would only play in one ear. All headphones were pushed in the whole way. And if I grab the top and move it around it will sometimes come in in both ears for about 2 seconds then go back to one ear again. I even did that trick of holding the middle and Menu buttons together and that didnt solve the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Its very hard not being able to listen to my iPod correctly.
Thanks.

Home Share - iTunes not syncing some ...

I have an old PC I had originally downloaded iTunes on. I have a new laptop with iTunes as well. I used Home Share and everything is great - both libraries show on both computers. The problem is that I have one song and one video that I have purchased from iTunes on my new laptop and I'm unable to load either onto my 160GB iPod. I'm using Windows Vista on the laptop and XP on the PC. Since both items show in both libraries, why can't I get either synced onto the iPod? I've tried syncing from both the PC and the laptop with no success. Anyone else have this particular problem?

Advice on DIY battery replacement ...

I have a 4G iPod and a Sonnet battery replacement kit.

The kit comes with a set of tools and an instructional DVD.

Unfortunately I can't get the case open. I have managed to insert the tool between the upper and lower halves of the case and move it round the perimeter but the case does not pop open as described in the DVD.

I wonder if anyone who has succeeded in replacing their battery has any advice.

Moved computers - Error messages - ...

I just moved my itunes and ipod from a macbook to a PC (I love the apples but I can't afford to buy them).

When I plug in my ipod I get two very similar error messages that must be cleared before my ipod will sync (which is very annoying if you're in a hurry and you plug in your ipod and expect it to sync and don't notice the error messages come up and then come back a few minutes later and nothing has synchronized).

The first is:

"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "How Microsoft Deployed and
Architected SharePoint Server 2007", were not copied because they could not be found." and then at the bottom it says there are 87 total problems and I can click the if I want to see all 87 problems.

How do I fix that?

Also I'm trying very very very very very hard to get Real Time with Bill Maher Episode #165 to move from my iTunes (where it rests tauntingly) to my iPod (which has only 1 brief video episode of "new rules". I've tried many different settings in the sync area including "sync the 5 most recent items", "sync the 5 most recent unplayed items", "sync all items", etc. but nothing I try moves this over.

Please please please, how can I get Episode #165 onto my iPod before I die of old age?

How do I get my playlists back? ...

I have an old iPod- one of the originals. 20gig. It's finally full and made me create a new playlist in my iTunes this last time I updated that it will now pull from, since it can't fit all my music in ("xx's iPod Selection"). However, when I'm scrolling through my ipod playlists that's now the only playlist I have. Any other playlists that I have on my iTunes (specifically, I want my workout mix for the gym) aren't there on my iPod. Is there a way to fix that? Or now that the pod's full it can only read that one list?

transferring songs ...

I received a used ipod from a friend. I downloaded some mp3 files that I made from old CDs I purchased and now would like to transfer them to my laptop. When I attempted this, itunes erased all the songs. Is there a way to transfer these songs and keep them on my ipod at the same time?

Capacity ...

Does anyone else find themselves performing triage with their music library because their iPod doesn't have enough space? I've noticed FLAC and other lossless formats becoming more popular, and they take up a lot more space. I'm not sure if iPod supports imports into these formats, but I would sure like to see them integrate it into their newer models. That would mean a lot bigger hard drives though. I only have the 80GB model, but my brother has a 180 when they still had those, and he's near to running out of room just like me. I prefer to import my stuff at maximum quality, so I'll probably end up getting a 160 (I wish they didn't stop selling the 180).

I'm just curious how many other people have this problem, even with the larger capacity models. If there are enough, maybe they will start coming out with bigger ones.

Music on iPod not retaining Start/Stop ...

My brother is using a PC, running iTunes 9. He just got finished trimming a bunch of songs with the "start time/stop time" options. He then made a playlist with all those songs and synced that playlist to his new iPod touch.

The problem is, none of the songs are retaining the stop/start time settings on the iPod (the settings still work on iTunes).

If I remember right, this does work when transferred to an iPod (I've done it with an older model) on my Mac. Is this a bug on the iPod touch side or the iTunes 9 side and is there any way to resolve this?

Thanks.

SUGGESTION-Player for Portable USB Drive ...

With USB drives becoming truly portable, it makes sense to have an iPod that would act as a player for these drives.

I have a WD Passport 500GB with about 240GB of iTunes content, obviously too much for any iPod. The drive is small enough to fit into a backpack, briefcase or purse. With a dedicated player, having no content of its own other than an OS, it would be feasible to take this system on the road.

I guess the big problem would be how to supply the drive with enough power to last for a few hours. Since I have no idea what the power consumption is on the drive or what's available in terms of batteries, I'll leave that to the developers.

I would think there would be a big market for this.

Is the 3rd Gen. iPod compatible with OS ...

I haven't synced up my 3rd Gen. iPod since I moved from my old iBook G4 to my somewhat new (Intel) Macbook Santa Rosa. I was having problems formating this iPod on my Macbook and went back to reinstall factory settings on iPod through the iBook in order to get it working again... I believe but I did a bunch of things awhile back to get the thing working again (I can't remember if I then got it to work on my Macbook after I reset it to factory settings on my iBook, and then it didn't work anymore after I reinstalled the HD on the Macbook; or if it just didn't work at all).

I know you have to use Firewire cable in order to charge and mess with settings on the iPod but I am wondering if they are compatible with the newer Macs even if they have firewire support? I also want to install iTunes 9 and Snow Leopard and I am wondering if the iPod will be completely incompatible with both of them?

I'd really like to know if I can keep this iPod going for awhile. It was a hand-me-down present from my brother and I have since installed a new battery that seems to last forever. Any help you guys can give, I'd really appreciate.

Thanks

"Hold" button has stopped working ...

Not sure what model my iPod is but it looks like the iPod classic on the current Apple web site; it has (c) 2005 on the back.

The "hold" switch on the top has stopped working. It still slides happily from side to side, but even with "hold" in position, all other controls function as normal.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
