Observations Using 100 Free Listings...
Despite having a full time job & weekend business, I listed, on both occasions, using the 100 free / any price / auctions. Mind you, I am grateful, despite the FVF & PayPal getting another 13%... I started the items not at 99 cents (we all know how THAT goes), but, at 1/2 of what the past 6 mos. 'sold' prices were. It was hard to research, as many of the items are OOAK and all are old/vintage. I listed actual shipping. No handling. Of 100 the first time, 10 sold. TEN. With 1 bid. ONE. Had I PAID the 100x the min. of $0.25 (many were $29.99 - $49.99)... drumroll... I'd have made a 'profit' of $ 5.82 ! I did the math. Clearly, the FEES until something sells quicklt erode the profit margin. This go around, I've 'sold' (bids on) 3 pieces. THREE. Obviously, I'll not be listing until the next 'any start price' sale. After the first foray, I moved the 97 items to another venue. Sold 15 pieces. 1/2 the FVF. 3 people used a (gasp) 'paper payment'. ( One sent, OMG, 'cash'). Clearly, it ain't my stuff. eBay simply must forgo listing fees, or, drop them down to a nickel. The traffic ain't here. Oh, sure, there is "traffic"... probably other sellers clicking around, 'watching', to see what THEIRS is 'worth'. Ever wonder how much of eBay's 'traffic' is just that ? High bounce rate that is only people identifying their item ?|||eBay is thining the heard , but it's also driving away those they'd like to keep. eBay will soon be forgoten by most buyers . it'll be a place of empty stores. like all the shopping malls are now . not any locally are still open as they were years ago. buyers have moved on.|||"Clearly, it ain't my stuff." By using a posting ID it prevents anyone from determining what your issue might be. Could simply be the competition on eBay. Farm always has a rosy idea of what's going on.......
